What would you like your character's tag to be?: Myka Bering
Answer the following questions in no less than 300 words but no greater than 1000 words put together...
Character's background (their past and present):here
Character's personality:Myka is a Tomboy, and handles herself in such a manner. Other little girls were playing with Barbie dolls, Myka was climbing trees and playing GI Joe. She joined the girl scouts and took fencing instead of Ballet. She never fit in that well with girls and played much better with the boys. Myka is very motivated by intelligence. It is quite a draw for her actually. She is a studious person, and prides herself on knowing things. With the exception of HG, she has always been the smartest person in the room, and she likes it like that. She has excellent deductive reasoning, and has the ability to figure most problems out. She is also able to figure her way out of tight situations, and has on many occasions, just ask her former partners.
Myka's views on her family are a bit complex. She loves her parents, and sister, but their history is a complex one. She always viewed her sister as the pretty one, and that was just something that she wasn't, in her mind. It showed when she became a model while undercover, she almost couldn't complete her assignment due to her deep insecurities about her appearance, and her relationship with her sister Tracy. She doesn't view herself as very very worthy in the eyes of her family, especially her father.
Myka grew up thinking that her father didn't love her, and that she didn't quite measure up to his expectations, that was perhaps why she tried so hard to break into a man's world. She is motivated to succeed and gets down on herself when things do not go as planned. She has however over the years, reached some level of acceptance with her family, and had some sort of peace as she continued her work at the Warehouse.
The people in the Warehouse are really the people that have helped shape Myka into the woman that she is today. She would go to the ends of earth for them, and has no qualms about that at all. She is also very protective of the people that she loves, especially the people that she lives with. She feels things very deeply, and she is not one to let people into her heart at a whim. It takes time and patience to earn Myka's trust, and she can count on one hand the number of people that she truly trusts. Once that trust is completely broken, it is a long road to get it back again.
Myka has gone through a terrible health scare, being diagnosed with Ovarian cancer, and having to deal with that alone, really put things into perspective for Myka. She learned that she is much stronger when she surrounds herself with people that care about her. It was really the only way that she was able to survive having cancer, even though she wouldn't admit it to herself. She is able to look forward and see a future, and not just see a broken past.
Myka spent time aboard the Enterprise but found that she missed the hustle and the bustle of the warehouse. She returned there briefly, only to see the Warehouse moved. Once again she found herself aboard the Enterprise.
Character's skills/abilities/powers: Myka is a baseline human, and has no special skills or powers.
Any special equipment your character is bringing along? :A Farley communicator, and her goo gun. She will also have a book on her

If you answered yes above, briefly summarize how they were changed by and what challenges they faced in the climate of their previous game(s): Myka was in Ten Forward once before, but this time she is coming in at a later canon point, and has much more of a focus about what she wants out of life. She is more content in her life now, and honestly having Helena in the game will help give her a foothold in the game that she didn't have before.
Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them?
The canon point I am taking Myka from, it makes sense that she would want a fresh start and a new lease on life. I believe that she will get along with the people she meets, and will adapt quickly to her new surroundings.
Writing Sample #1:
Myka opened her eyes expecting to find herself in her own room at the B&B. Things had been a little strange over the last year for Myka. She had left the Warehouse, thinking she had to handle things on her own. She was fully prepared to cancel Cancer on her own, despite all the reassurances that Pete had given her that he would be there for her, She had insisted on doing everything on her own. She didn’t need to rely on anyone or anything. That line of thinking landed her on the Enterprise, where she tried to move on with her life and build a new life for herself.
The more she thought about it though, the more she realized how much she missed the hustle and bustle of the Warehouse and returned there. Myka found herself actually enjoying her work again, more than she thought she would. She found herself wanting to spend extra time with the people that she called family.
"A world of endless wonder," Myka whispered, as she looked out at the horizon of the stacks of Warehouse 13. She couldn't help but smile just a little bit at the scene before her. She ran her hand along the railing of the balcony as she moved down towards the stairs. Myka was always careful when it came to the Warehouse because she could get lost so easily in such a massive place. She suddenly found herself standing in the room with the stone round table. It was the last place she remembered being.
Myka smiled fondly as she looked around one final time having the feeling that she wasn’t where she thought she was.
“Computer,” She called out, smiling when an arch appeared. She would remember the warehouse with fondness, but life was full of adventures.
